La Junta, NM - Marriages 1873

The area known as La Junta de los Rios or Watrous has many families who lived in that area in the late 1800's. The marriage records for that area are on film and some have been extracted and transcribed by Luis Padilla. Here are a few of the first ones on the roll FHL #17040, pg. 21

Sept 10 1873, Candelario Trujillo, single, son of Jose Maria Trujillo and of (blank) with Maria Alejandra Sanchez, daughter of Manuel Sanchez, deceased and Albina Peña, wit: Jose Maria Delao and Maria Lopez. Loma Parda

Sep 23 1873, Pedro Martin, single, son of Jose Maria Martin and Antonia Rosa Salas with Anamaria Eutemia Lujan, single daughter of Juan Albino Lujan and Maria Francisca Cordova, deceased, wit: Juan Bores and Sabina Martin. Cañon Largo

Oct 1 1873, Jose Isaac Lopez, single son of Crespin Lopez, deceased and Josefa Padilla, with Gertrudes Sanchez, single, daughter of Luciano Sanchez and Maria de la Luz Chaves, wit: Jose Martin and Tomasa Fernales. Cañon de Ysidro

Jose Vicente Valdez - Last Will and Testament

In a document dated July 13, 1865 in the Santa Fe County Wills Books, pgs. 246-248, Jose Vicente Valdez is writing his will. He states he was married and veiled to Maria Guadalupe Ortiz and they did not have any children. His wife brought nothing to the marriage, but she later inherited property and land from Matias Ortiz. He mentions his adopted daughter, Maria de la Paz Valdez. He names as guardian, Maria Rufina Martinez, her mother, to manage the estate she is being given. Jose Vicente names Ramon Sena and Rufina Martinez as his executors, with witnesses as Vicente Romero, Juan Cristobal Romero and he signs his name.
