Pacheco Post #11 Geronima Pacheco

Geronima Pacheco married Nicolas Martin on February 2, 1728. (1)

 (1) Compiled by Margaret Leonard Windham and Evelyn Lujan Baca, New Mexico Marriages Church in San Juan Pueblo 1726-1776, 1831-1855 and Church in Santa Clara Pueblo 1726-1832 (New Mexico Genealogical Society), Pg. 1. Geronima Pacheco with Nicolas Martin. pad/ Diego Torres and his wife.

She appeared in the 1750 census for Chama and Santa Cruz. The first is Geronima Pacheco, widow, 6 in the family. The second one was Geronima Pacheco, 4 children, 2 female servants. (2) Basically these match.

 Other:

 _____

A granddaughter named after her, Geronima Martin, the daughter of Jose Martin and Petrona Gonzales. Abiquiu 3 Oct 1781.

Summary:  Geronima Pacheco is likely the daughter of Felipe Pacheco and Angela Leyba.  Juan Jose Pacheco, a possible brother, married Ynes Martin. Ygnacio Pacheco, another possible brother, married Margarita Martin.   All three married into the same family, from the same locations.

Geronima is mentioned more with the Martin family than any Pacheco siblings or other members of that family. In my own research, I have eight known children for this couple.

Nicolas Martin was deceased by the 1750 census, meaning all their kids would have been born before then.  Some were married, others living with her.

Geronima passed on February 14, 1781. (3)

(3) "Catholic Church. San Juan de los Caballeros (San Juan, New Mexico). Deaths 1726-1857," Geronima Pacheco (1781); FHL microfilm 16,982, item 217; 15 Feb 1781, died the previous day.
