Jose Miguel Montaño - Will - May 29, 1865

In this page and a quarter will, Jose outlines his wife as Maria Tomasita Gonzales, who he was married to for 30 years. They had nine children, but only three are living and he names them as Maria de Altagracia, Maria Quilina, Maria Guadalupe.

An interesting declaration in this will, is he mentions two muchachitos (young boys), Jose Sisto Montaño and Jose Victor Montaño, and leaves them a yoke and oxen, for the good of his conscience. He later also gives them, two horses, two saddles and two burros.

Naming his brother, Julian Montaño, who owes him some goats al partido (a leasing type system used in colonial times). He names his executor as Vicente Garcia and his witnesses are Ramon Belarde and Julian Barela.
